The idea of bullying being a normal function of society is no longer viable in the age of information. Where once bullying was considered a rite of passage for the youth, today its negative sociological impact is impossible to ignore. Anthony Passero himself is no stranger to bullying. He has been on both sides of it, and although he may not be proud of his troubled past, it has inspired him to teach the lessons he’s learned to those that need it most. “Just like in the schoolyard, there are bullies in the business world. I fought my whole life against people that may have been stronger or wealthier than me throughout my childhood and career. My life has had its ups and downs, but I have learned to no longer fear bullies and I am proud to defend those that might be facing them today.” Even though he is a successful businessman and loving father in his own right, Anthony always finds the time to help those understand the bullying issue and teach them that it can always be stopped or prevented through proper education and awareness.
By taking the time to speak to children and teenagers about the perils of drugs and gangs Anthony is inspiring them to stand up for what is right instead of submitting to negative peer pressure. The Prevention Team, for example, is a organization Anthony joined with the idea that one person can make a difference. He wants the world to know that there are still positive role models that can be admired and looked up to. By not only lecturing himself, but bringing professional athletes to schools around the country to speak with students about bullying is a great thing. When it is free of charge to the schools whose budgets could never afford such an event, it becomes life changing for some of those students. “Seeing for myself what a negative impact bullying can have on an individual and their family is the main reason why I got into Reputation Management as an adult. There will always be people who thrive on negativity, and today with the ability to remain totally anonymous it’s even more imperative that we teach our kids why it’s wrong.” Anthony’s reputation management firm is based on the idea that even adults can be bullied. Not only in the same way as a child, but through false media reports and “anonymous” sourcing. These kinds of things can ruin a career, or worse. Even if true, Anthony believes everyone makes mistakes and should be given the chance for redemption. As Anthony himself will tell you it has been a long road to success. “If it were not for mentors and role models showing me the way I would probably not be here today sharing my stories and trying to incite positive change.” Through his understanding of how bullying works and his ability to share it, Anthony spreads hope that more and more children everyday will grow up in a world without bullying. It is his strong belief that hard work, dedication, and compassion can truly give our society the chance to improve itself for future generations.
